Sceletium Tortuosum is an overwatering adverse succulent. Succulents in general are not good candidates for hydroponic growth. In spite of the hurdles, I have seen my kanna plants adapt wonderfully to hydroponic growth.
Growing Kanna hydroponically timeline

Plant has put on several new set of leaves in a remarkably short amount of time. Rather than dying, the plant has done phenomenally. I was amazed that it was that easy to root and see growth in that amount of time.

As you can see, my Sceletium Tortuosum hydroponic experiment went fantastically well. In fact, it has become one of my favorite ways to make clones. It has only failed once or twice in my further experimentation.
One thing to keep in mind is that Kanna doesn’t need a ton of extra nutrients. Therefore, I started to give half doses of nutrients. (Aerogarden recommends 2 capfuls of their Miracle-Gro liquid plant food every 2 weeks. I have done 1 capful every 2 weeks).
If you give hydroponic kanna a shot, I would love to hear how it worked out for you! Leave a comment!
